Conceived in response to the curatorial frame: political movement. From this impulse the production explores how devising strategies can transform individual perspectives into a collective movement, aligning performers toward action and opening new ways of approaching themes of political sensitivity. The evening offers an opportunity to experience and reflect on co-creation, cultural polyphony, and the diverse expressions of contemporary political theatre.
“WalkYourChair” is a site-specific performance by The Third — rehearsed and performed in a designated bomb shelter beneath Tallinn in the depths of the Estonian winter, at temperatures reaching -21°C. The conditions were not incidental. A space built for survival, stripped of comfort, held at the edge of endurance — it became the exact ground the work needed.
It all begins with an audio guide that speaks to you and offers something simple: take your chair for a walk, sit wherever you want, and see what happens if you let it lead you. What if that’s all it is — a moment, you and your chair? From there, four performers give body and breath to four chairs placed in a space meant to pass through, not to stay. A space beneath the earth, beneath the human world, where people simply cross from one side to the other — a space of pure transit. The piece opens that small fold where a chair, any chair, can mean something else when it appears where it “shouldn’t” — inviting you to look at and inhabit the space differently, almost as if the chair were teaching you how to be.
